“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” 1984, George Orwell
Elon Musk is gaslighting us. Telling us to reject what we see with our own two eyes. He has been on X lamenting how tiring the Hitler comparisons are. If he wants people to quit making comparisons with Hitler, he should probably stop throwing Nazi salutes.
What Nazi salute? It was just the type of off-the-cuff gesture we’ve come to expect from Musk, the goofy, socially awkward tech bro.
If you believe that then I have some crypto to sell you.
Musk is no idiot. Quite the opposite, he is a genius, and there is, as the saying goes, a fine line between genius and insanity, a line that Musk often seems to jump back and forth across multiple times a day.
If you genuinely think Musk’s Nazi salute was just a clumsy expressions of a bumbling billionaire, then let’s examine the evidence. Let’s look at what your eyes are actually telling you.
Last summer, after Elon Musk had successfully helped to fan the flames of racism by spreading far-right propaganda, that led to pogroms against Muslims in the UK, I called him one of the most dangerous men on the planet. Everything he has done since then has only reinforced my view.
Musk is unelected. He is not accountable to anyone other than a small band of shareholders. Here is what makes Musk so dangerous, what is motivating him and why he must be stopped.
Musk is the world’s biggest oligarch.
As the planet’s wealthiest man, he has used his vast billions to buy influence and control over, arguably, the most powerful Head of State in the world, the President of the United States of America.
Despite not being elected, or officially nominated to any official post in the Administration, he is reported to be around President-elect Trump almost 24/7, which has led to him being labelled as the “First Buddy” of President Trump. He has had a hand in conducting interviews to prominent roles within Team Trump, and allegedly suggesting fellow tech bros for influential jobs. Musk has been in the room with the President-elect for meetings with other Heads of State, and even reportedly attended national security briefings. Again, I repeat, this is a man that has not been elected or gone through the Senate nomination and confirmation process.
Buying influence is, sadly, nothing new in politics, particularly the vast sums spent during any given US election. It is one thing to buy political clout, it is quite another attempting to overthrow a democratically elected PM in a foreign country, and one of your country’s closest allies.
Unhinged, and drunk on power, in the last few weeks we have witnessed Musk incessantly post disinformation about Keir Starmer, and his Government Ministers. He has demanded that new elections be held, he is supposedly in discussions with his allies to hatch a plan to remove Keir Starmer from position, and has even made a direct appeal to King Charles to dissolve Parliament, which, of course, the King has duly ignored.
As well as trying to overthrow the Prime Minister of the UK, Musk has also decided to interfere in various elections across the world, and particularly in Europe, where he has thrown his weight behind the far-right party in Germany, the AfD.
The question that no one seems to be asking is why? What is motivating Elon Musk?
If we go by his social media commentary there is no doubt about his motivations.
Elon Musk supports the far-right, he has not even tried to disguise the fact. We can only conclude that he therefore agrees with their world view that Islam is a threat to the Western world, and the West needs to rid itself of Islam and Muslims before they lose their values and way of life.
Just look at who Musk supports, and whose lies he chooses to amplify.
Recently he has called for the release of Tommy Robinson. That would be Tommy Robinson, the man who has called Islam both a mental illness and a violent and fascist ideology. The same Tommy Robinson who is in prison for repeating defamatory lies about a young Syrian Muslim refugee.
Robinson is not a one off. Musk has also posted his support for Dutch politician Geert Wilders. In a world littered with Islamaphobes, Wilders takes great delight in being the Islamaphobe-in-chief. He has called for the Quran to be banned, comparing it to Mein Kampf, accused Muslims and Islam as being the biggest threat to Western culture, and called for the banning of Mosques.
Most recently, Musk has been salivating over Germany’s far-right Party the AfD, even hosting their leader Alice Weidel for an exclusive, cosy chat on his social media platform X. A discussion that was so riddled with disinformation, Weidel astonishingly tried to make the claim that Hitler was a lefty communist. That would be the same Adolf Hitler who sent trade unionists to the gas chambers, and hated Marxism, describing it as a Jewish strategy to subjugate Germany and the world.
The AfD are so anti-Muslim they don’t just come out with the odd Muslim-hating statement here or there during election hustings, or TV debates. They hate Islam, and by extension Muslims, so much they dedicated an entire chapter of their manifesto titled “Islam Does Not Belong To Germany”, in order to advance their Islamaphobia.
All of this is before we even begin to examine the content of the accounts Musk chooses to amplify, retweet and engage with. From Radio Genoa to Inevitable West, they are a quagmire of disinformation about Muslims. It is undoubtedly why such accounts hide behind the cloak of anonymity, even they are embarrassed by their own bigotry.
So what motivates
Elon Musk?
Well, as Maya Angelou said:
“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
Enjoyed reading this , we need more platforms like yours to get the truth out there to the public 👍🏻
We need a global movement! We need to organise! Can you not have a chat with Jezza, Bernie, Tlaib, Omar and Ocasio-Cortez? 🙏🏻
